Introducing...in our Anderson office...
The BrightHouse Program for
Integrative Learning & Development (ILD)
"It's like the BrightHouse Comprehensive Learning Program...
on Ritalin!"
OK, that's a crazy headline, but it made me laugh.
Seriously, this program provides a synergy of the best research and science-based programs available today, including the BrightHouse Comprehensive Learning Program. The BrightHouse Program for ILD takes into account how the brain develops and the hierarchical nature of brain processing.
Level 1: Fundamental Skills
Sensory-Motor---Attention---Memory
Does your child have difficulty with coordination, depth perception, sports, handwriting, listening? These are sensory-motor skills and are necessary for the brain to pay attention.
Does you child have difficulty with attention? If so, he probably has trouble with one of these level 1 skills. For sure, if he has difficulty paying attention, his memory is going to suffer!
Level 2: Executive Processing Skills
Reasoning/Logic/Conceptualization---Emotions---Behaviors
When the basic processing skills, ability to pay attention, and the ability to remember are in place, your child is ready to reason logically and conceptualize at an age-appropriate level. The ability to reason will also help your child manage difficult emotions and inappropriate behaviors.
Is your child sad, or anxious, or oppositional, or impulsive, or too aggressive? Maturation of the brain at this level will help tremendously.
Level 3: Academic Skills
Handwriting & Reading---Math---Writing for Content
When fine motor skills (level 1) have matured, your child is ready to write. When auditory processing and visual processing skills (level 1) are in place, your child is ready to learn to read. When age appropriate reasoning and logic skills (level 2) are in place, your child is ready for math calculations. As reasoning and logic mature further, your child is ready to get thoughts onto paper in a logical and organized fashion (writing for content).
